Where to Stay in Agadir and Taghazout: Best Areas and Hotels

Where to stay in Agadir: the beachfront and Founty resorts, good-value hotels in the city centre, and surf houses and resorts in Taghazout and Taghazout Bay.

Agadir has one of Morocco’s longest city beaches, around 300 days of sunshine a year and hotels for every style of holiday, from big all-inclusive resorts to surf houses in nearby Taghazout. Where you stay decides what your trip feels like: the beachfront for resorts and the promenade, the city centre for value and local life, or Taghazout Bay for surf, yoga and a village atmosphere. Here is how to choose and the best-rated places in each area.

Where to stay in Agadir at a glance

  • For the beach and resorts: the beachfront of Agadir Bay and the Founty district
  • For value and local life: the city centre and Talborjt
  • For surfing and a village feel: Taghazout and Taghazout Bay, 20 kilometres north
  • How long: 4 to 7 nights for a beach holiday

Where to stay: the areas

Agadir Bay beachfront. The long promenade runs along the bay from the marina to the south. Hotels here have direct beach access, pools and gardens, and the promenade is lined with cafés and restaurants.

Founty. At the southern end of the bay, Founty is where most of the big resorts and all-inclusive hotels are, with quieter stretches of sand.

City centre and Talborjt. A few streets back from the beach, the centre and the Talborjt district have cheaper hotels and apartments, local restaurants and easy access to the Souk El Had market.

Taghazout and Taghazout Bay. North of the city, the fishing village of Taghazout is Morocco’s surf capital, full of surf houses and cafés, while the new Taghazout Bay resort next door has international hotels, a golf course and calm beaches.

Getting there and around

Agadir Al Massira Airport is about 25 kilometres from the city, with flights from many European cities; compare flights on Aviasales and book a fixed-price transfer with Kiwitaxi. Buses connect Agadir with Marrakech in about 3.5 hours and with Essaouira along the coast. In town, orange petits taxis and city buses are cheap; to explore Taghazout, Paradise Valley and the coast, compare rental cars on DiscoverCars, and book surf lessons and day trips on GetYourGuide.

Do it like a Moroccan: local tips

  • Choose all inclusive carefully. It is great for families, but staying in a regular hotel lets you try the fish restaurants at the port and the cafés in town.
  • Go to Souk El Had. Agadir’s huge market is the best place for spices, argan oil and fresh produce. It is closed on Mondays.
  • Watch the sunset from the Kasbah. The hilltop Agadir Oufella offers the best view over the bay.
  • Stay connected. A Morocco eSIM from Airalo keeps your maps working on the coast.
